Persona 5 Heads Back to High School, Promises Different Atmosphere

November 26, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Persona 5 uses a high school setting, but Atlus still wants to keep the story grounded.

After Atlus announced four new Persona branded games set to release a variety of platforms, the first details on Persona 5 emerge from Japanese magazine, Dengeki PlayStation, to discuss the setting and atmosphere.

Gemastu explains that Persona 5 returns to its high school setting, but promises a different atmosphere. In the Persona 5 trailer, the balls-and-chain attached to chairs represents the challenges students must overcome. Players must break through their emotional chains as a high school senior.

Through a story built on a brand new world and societal values, Atlus wants to bring a greater sense of realism for Persona 5.

Atlus applied a tentative release date of 'Winter 2014' for Persona 5, which launches exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
