Today, Sony announced a back-button attachment for their DualShock 4, a device that will easily slip two programmable buttons to the back of your controller.

The back button attachment will two programmable buttons in which you can map 16 different functions including L1/R1 and much more. The device will plug into the headphone jack and will also come with an OLED screen, which will display button assignments and profiles.

Sony is marketing its new device as a “way to elevate your competitive play”, which it seemingly will play a pivotal role in that department. Although it may seem a bit clunky, Sony claims the device will not get in the way of the Dualshock 4’s accessibility and comfort.
So you may wonder, “when can I get my hands on one of these?”Thankfully, Sony’s new device isn’t far out and will launch next month on January 23 for $29.99.
