Nvidia has released driver 331.82 WHQL, which they tout as an essential update for all GTX users. The driver optimizes the performance of several games, such as Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, among others, as well as introduces Shadowplay Beta.
It certainly seems to be a very important update, as Nvidia made a 66 page document detailing the patch notes. After looking through, here’s my main takeaway; the driver increases performance to as much as 19 % for select games for the GeForce 400, 500, 600, and 700 Series.
Nvidia called out Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, Need for Speed Rivals, Battlefield 4, Crysis 3, Natural Selection 2, Path of Exile, and Metro: Last Light. Both Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts players noticed the driver release, and how they have benefited from it. Some COD players even say it has fixed all the problems they have ever had with the game. Basically, installing these drivers is tantamount to upgrading your Nvidia card, even if you have something as high end as a Titan, and all games seem to benefit from it.
This update also brings with it GeForce Experience, which will auto-update your drivers and also auto-optimize your games moving forward. GeForce Experience itself is also bundled with Shadowplay, Nvidia’s DVR recording feature, as well as streaming on the company’s handheld, the Nvidia Shield.
