StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Still Searching for the Right ‘Feel’

November 12, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void expansion still looking for the right ‘feel.’

When Blizzard released StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, the delayed release came from the extra time needed to balance the multiplayer, not complete development of the campaign. While they finished the campaign missions ahead of release, the third and final expansion, Legacy of the Void, still needs work.

Game director Dustin Browder spoke with Warcry.com and updated the progress on Legacy of the Void. "The missions are coming along. I'm pretty happy with the story, but the missions need some more work and the campaign mechanics — like how you progress as the Protoss — needs some more work before we are ready to show anything."

Yet even with development well underway, Browder didn't think Blizzard finally created the proper feeling for the Protoss race. "It didn't feel like you were playing the Protoss. You want to have that feeling like 'We're the Protoss. We're these bad-ass space Samurai. We're going to lay down our lives for the greater good … oh, and by the way, we could glass you planet if you mess with us."

Using the advanced technology of the Protoss, Browder wants the whole race to bring ultimate destruction and power in the same way Kerrigan led the strength of the Zerg army.

In the meantime, Blizzard tackles multiple projects including a new World of Warcraft expansion and their new MOBA, Heroes of the Storm.
