With 2019 coming towards an end, most are looking at what’s to come in 2020. The video game industry is hard at work turning out titles that will release for either the end of the current-generation life cycle or the start of the next-generation platforms. Regardless of what consoles some franchises are hitting, there are a few iconic series that has people wondering just when the next installment will hit the market. For Battlefield fans, the series is taking a breather and we may not see it until 2022.
Gearing up towards the new year, 2020 already has some big anticipated video game titles slated to launch such as The Last of Us Part 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. However, EA has since announced that its beloved Battlefield franchise won’t be the big shooter for 2020. Instead, there is a focus on the already released and free-to-play battle royale title, Apex Legends. Depending on your views for both Apex Legends and Battlefield, this may be a good or disheartening news to see.
Announced through an investor call, Battlefield will be coming during the 2022 fiscal year. But, there is still the hit shooter Apex Legends which will be moving on to other platforms, likely the next-generation console releases. We’re not sure what’s to come for Apex Legends, but chances are there should likely be some substantial updates for the title if EA is willing to shelf the release of a new Battlefield installment.
Likewise, there’s always the support for the previously released, Battlefield 5 which launched in 2018. While it may not have as many concurrent players as it did when it initially launched, there could be a few updates added into the game that might sway some new faces or previous veterans.
