Sucker Punch Productions is the development studio behind the game and it’s slated to be based around the last samurai of a small island. We’ve seen this game on and off over the past couple of years, but we’re hoping that it makes out of development and into the market before the end of 2020. This is a game based around the last samurai of Tsushima Island. Set in 1274, players step into the role of Jin Sakai, who is the last person fighting back for the island after it was invaded by Mongols. With samurai no longer being the prime threat, Jin quickly understands that he will need to resort to a new fighting technique known as the Ghost, to successfully fight back.
The game never had a release date attached, but a new report from an industry insider, Jason Schreier, has alerted the public Ghost of Tsushima won’t be available until later 2020. It was apparently also bumped back after the recent delay of The Last of Us Part II, but that doesn’t mean it will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. If the report is to be true, Sucker Punch Productions had originally intended for this game to be an early 2020 release title.
Unfortunately, nothing official has been released on the matter so we’re still left without a release date. Regardless, it has been speculated that we would receive the game sometime in 2020 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Still, it seems that 2020 is having a rough start as not only has The Last of Us Part II and now Ghost of Tsushima may be delayed, but Ubisoft has delayed three of its anticipated AAA video game releases for the end of next year.
At the very least, the tail end of 2020 should be filled with plenty of great content to pick up. Likewise, with all the delays, developers are given more time to make the game a solid and fun experience when it does reach the marketplace.
