DICE Addresses Battlefield 4 Issues In Forums, Fixes On The Way

November 3, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

DICE runs down identified issues and what they are doing to make it good.

DICE has updated the official Battlefield 4 forums to update fans on their progress in investigating and fixing the game’s issues. They did not give an official timetable to fixing these issues, but are clearly outlining what steps they are taking and what they have accomplished so far.

First off, the elephant in the room. Players using different platforms and setups are experiencing game freezes and crashes. These actually encompass several issues and situations, and likewise require separate solutions. DICE is deploying a combination of both quick server-side updates and game client updates to handles these. The client updates need meticulous testing and certification, so it will take a while for those to go out.

Players losing progress in multiplayer seem to be affected by crashes, since these stop reports from getting sent to Battlelog. Single player save files are also getting corrupted, but this is still under investigation.

DICE has already fixed an issue that stopped Xbox 360 players from creating Missions. They also fixed the issue causing players on Normal servers to have magazine reloads act like they were on Hardcore servers. Audio bugs in multiplayer will be addressed soon with the next upcoming PC client patch.

Premium members were supposed to get the option to reset their multiplayer stats, but were prevented to do so by a bug. A zero downtime fix will be rolled out for this issue soon.

Server queues are currently disabled as they are still studying why players can’t join these queues for servers. DICE believes they have a possible solution to deploy soon. They are also at work investigating why promotional Battlepack items aren’t appearing on Battlelog or in the game.

DICE has already deployed four server side updates, with a fifth one on the way. The first client patch is intended to address most major issues, and they hope to release it very soon. Patch notes will be released as soon as they have finalized the details.

To sum, DICE wants fans to keep sending them feedback, and promises to release a blog post soon regarding controller layout options. Does this assuage your fears about Battlefield 4?
