Enemies Will Feel More Human In The Last of Us Part 2

October 10, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Neil Druckmann offers more insight into what we can expect in the game.

One of the biggest exclusives to launch for the PlayStation 4 is coming in 2020. We’re of course referring to The Last of Us Part II, a game being developed by the talented folks at Naughty Dog. With the developers still hard at work in the video game, Neil Druckmann decided to offer some new insight as to what players can expect from this upcoming installment.

Naughty Dog has consistently offered a high level of detail when it comes to their video game titles, though it seems that they are raising the bar and pushing the limits of the PlayStation 4 hardware. Players will get a large world to explore which may make some of the set pieces a small little open world to venture in. You’ll want to be careful as this world is still suffering from the pandemic virus and it seems that there will be new mutations offered. One of those new mutations can emit a large smokescreen which not only can hurt Ellie if trapped inside but may hide behind its smokey walls a slew of enemies rushing towards our protagonist.

Speaking of enemies, Neill Druckmann also made note during the PlayStation Blog post that the human enemies featured in the game may feel more human. Each character has a unique name and plenty of manpower went into creating characters that will react naturally when a member of their faction dies. It’s no longer a mindless NPC but a character that will feel like a person who provided real relationships with those in the enemy group. As a result, you may see some character grieving or springing into an unpredictable rage fueled attack.

There is plenty to be excited about as we wait for the game to launch. For Neil Druckmann, this game has been a project in the works for years. Apparently, Neil was speaking with Ashley Johnson, the voice actress for Ellie, who pitched not only Left Behind but this sequel back in 2013. Currently, The Last of Us Part II will be releasing on February 21, 2020, for the PlayStation 4. With the PlayStation 5 slated to launch within the holiday season of 2020, it will be interesting to see if a PS5 specific enhanced version will release shortly after.
