There Are No Plans For Single-Player DLC In Red Dead Redemption 2

September 27, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Right now its all about Red Dead Online.

Rockstar Games delivered Grand Theft Auto V in 2013 and while the development team had likely planned some DLC single-player expansions, the profits skyrocketed when they launched their online component, Grand Theft Auto Online. As a result, the development studio has been focusing on new updates and content for players to enjoy together online. That same trend is seemingly being attached to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched back in October of 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Much like Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2 also has an online component for players to enjoy and that seems to be the main focus over at the development studio right now. For those that were hoping that a new story expansion will release on the title then you’ll be disappointed to hear the latest news from a recent interview conducted at VG247.

“The team’s ambitions for Red Dead Redemption 2 were sky high in every way, and when we are building worlds of that scale, the single-player experience almost always leads the way. Our ambitions for our online games are just as high, and with Red Dead Online we are continuing to build and expand to match the world we created for Red Dead Redemption 2’s story, not just with the roles but other activities, new random events, characters to meet, new ways to engage with the world and further inhabit your character, as well as trying to improve the overall experience.”

Speaking with Katie Pica, the lead online production associate, VG247 learned that Rockstar Games doesn’t have any plans at the moment for a single-player expansion to Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead Online is the main focus for the team as they attempt to push out more content for players.

Currently, Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today. However, there is plenty of hints at a PC port will be announced shortly but nothing has been confirmed.
