Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Developer Offers Statement Over Exclusive Deal

September 26, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Gamers are none to pleased over the exclusive PS4 deal.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been a highly anticipated video game and we’ve been waiting for a story trailer to drop. During Sony’s State of Play this week, we got the unveiling of the story premise trailer for the game and that left plenty of conversation afterward. Unfortunately, the conversation wasn’t mainly about the upcoming video game and what we may see featured in the storyline down the road. Instead, the talk online has been the exclusive deal that Sony has with the game.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there is an exclusive game mode known as Spec Ops Survival and it was confirmed during the State of Play video upload that the game mode would be an exclusive on PlayStation 4 for an entire year. Now, this is just the one video game mode that is available as an exclusive for the platform, but it has plenty of fans upset. We’re used to seeing certain platforms get exclusives that were limited and time-based. However, an exclusive deal that locks players out from the game mode for a year is a bit harsh if you’re picking up the game outside of the PlayStation 4.

As a result, the feedback has been rampant online and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. In hopes of calming the fires, the narrative director behind Call of Duty: Modern warfare, Taylor Kurosaki, has spoken up over the criticism through Twitter.

According to the report made by Polygon, Taylor tweeted out that he feels the game’s exclusive mode is just one percent of the entire package. In his eyes, this is not a ruining move for gamers and he would rather have players playing the game as it releases rather than waiting an entire year to enjoy it. We don’t know how much this move will hurt the game just yet or if it will see any drop in sales at all.

Players that want to enjoy the game right away can pick up a copy on October 25, 2019, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
