Conan Reviews Slender, Amnesia And Outlast For Clueless Gamer PC Horror Game Edition

October 25, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Get acquainted with these survival horror nailbiters before Conan eviscerates them.

Clueless Gamer, AKA Conan O’Brien reviewed a set of PC survival horror games for the season, with the help of writer Aaron Blaeyart. Aaron puts him through Slender: The Eight Pages, Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Outlast. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil any of the jokes for you below, but if you’re curious about the games, read on after the jump.

Slender: The Eight Pages was released last year. Based on the fakelore surrounding the Slenderman, the unrevealed playable character must collect eight pages in the middle of a forest at night, using only a flashlight with a weak battery. Slenderman will appear on occasion, and you will have to run away as fast as you can to avoid getting a quick game over. This game is available on Windows and OS X.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a survival horror game from 2010, placing you in 1839 Prussia. You are a Londoner named Daniel, who wakes up in a castle with no memory of how you get there or of your own past. The game has you running away from monsters and solving puzzles. Originally only available via download, Amnesia is now available on Windows, OS X, Linux and Onlive, on digital distributors Desura, Gog.com, Mac App Store, Steam and Ubuntu Software Center, as well as as a physical disc published by THQ.

Finally, Outlast has you playing as journalist Miles Upshur, who investigates Mount Massive Asylum, unaware that he is about to experience some genuine horrors within. Miles spends most of the game defenseless, but can navigate multiple areas of the environment unfettered, as well as use the night vision on his camera. Outlast was released on Windows just last month, and is coming to the PS4 the 1st quarter 2014.

Outlast made the most impact on Conan, as you can clearly see below. If you haven't watched it yet, now would be a good time to go back and do that.
