Obsidian Entertainment is a well-known video game development studio. The creators of Fallout: New Vegas are currently preparing the upcoming launch of their next big RPG open-world experience, The Outer Worlds. However, the studio is also getting things rolling for their next big video game project which is seeking new help after a hiring notice appeared online. This next big RPG experience is also said to be a multiplatform release, which is likely going to be for the Xbox One and PC platforms.
After Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft, the studio is likely going to prepare for some new big single-player RPG experiences that will remain Microsoft exclusive. However, the purchase was made after production of The Outer Worlds, which is a big RPG title that is releasing not only on the Xbox One and PC platform but also the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. This upcoming title is shaping up quite nicely from the footage we’ve seen so far, but now the studio has something else planned afterward.
A Linkedin post unveiled that Obsidian Entertainment is hiring various staff to help develop a new title that will be a multiplatform release. It’s being speculated right now that this could potentially be a DLC expansion project for The Outer Worlds, while others suggest this is a new IP set to be a Microsoft exclusive.
Since we are sitting in the dark right now, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the former speculative discussion come to fruition. In the past, we’ve heard that the developers have plenty of lore that could create a series of video games under The Outer Worlds umbrella. For now, we’ll have to wait and see just what is planned next, but one thing is for sure, Inside Xbox will be unveiling a highlight centered around The Outer Worlds. As for when the game will launch, players, can pick up a copy of the game on October 25, 2019.
