Trilobyte Games Add Classics The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour to Steam

October 23, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Two classic CD-ROM games have made their way to Steam.

Trilobyte Games has announced the release of The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour, two classic puzzle games that broke PC ground in the 1990s, on the Steam platform. The memorable games were recently ported to iOS, MAC, and PC platforms in the last few years, but the continued requests made by fans have pushed the developer to Valve’s service, offering each individual game for $9.99 and a two-pack for $14.99.

“We’re delighted to offer our fans a new way to purchase and play our legacy games,” said Rob Landeros, co-founder, creative director and CEO of Trilobyte Games. “Our fans have been asking for Steam versions of our titles, and we’re pleased to now be associated with Valve, and the Steam platform – where so much is going on.”

The 7th Guest was released in 1993, acting as the first title designed for CD-ROM and first game to use full rendered 3D animation and navigation. It was a hit, pushing the creators to produce the equally successful The 11th Hour.

Trilobyte used the Steam Greenlight service to get The 7Th Guest on the platform, and in the process, inked a deal with Night Dive Studios. The developer ported the code to Steam, and will help provide support for their upcoming Kickstarter.

“Night Dive Studios believes that classic video games should never be abandoned or forgotten,” said Stephen Kick, founder. “They should be available to play at any time, run out of the box without the hassle of installing outdated drivers, or using obsolete hardware. We look forward to collaborating with Trilobye Games on future projects, including the upcoming Kickstarter campaign to fund The 7th Guest: 3.”
