Ubisoft Wants More Big World Video Games Like Assassins’ Creed Odyssey

September 12, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Big worlds with smaller story options.

Ubisoft is no stranger to delivering open-world video game titles. With the likes of Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed, players going into a Ubisoft developed game can expect some traversing along with exploration. When Assassin’s Creed Odyssey released in 2018, it was quite the hefty video game title. Hours on top of hours could be spent with just the main story and even then you have a slew of extras, side quests, and DLC content. A new comment was made by the Ubisoft CEO that is alerting the world of his desire to see more of these caliber games come out into the market.

The CEO for Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, recently had a chat with Gamesindustry.biz where he unveiled the urge to create even more massive open worlds to explore in video games. However, if you’re not one to tackle a game that’s going to need more than a full day to complete then the developer has your interests in mind. It’s all about having unity within the odyssey according to Yves Guillemot.

To further breakdown his comments, what the CEO from Ubisoft has planned is delivering massive open-world video game titles for players to explore and complete adventures within. But, again, to those that don’t want a very extensive stay within a video game title will hopefully find some unity style campaigns. For instance, Ubisoft wants to make games that have shorter campaigns for players to pursue, but again, that’s campaigns meaning multiple storylines in a single game.

It’s an interesting concept to be able a means of delivering storylines that players could pick and choose to complete, but even with that concept, it seems that there would be some intermingling in order to reach that sort of crossroads which was the case of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

What we can take away from these comments is that Ubisoft is known for their open-world video game title experiences and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. For now, Ubisoft has plenty on their plate with development going on for such games as Gods & Monsters, Watch Dogs: Legion, Skull & Bones and Beyond Good and Evil 2.
