Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man behind the legendary Final Fantasy series, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, is currently working on an iPhone RPG game.
Sakaguchi who left Square Enix in 2004 and founded his own studio “Mistwalker”, revealed on the studio’s blog
2010 is the year of my long-awaited new blockbuster project.
I’m putting my heart and soul into this production. I’m taking a full swing and making this the best project.
Oh, by the way, We are also working on a project for iPhone.

Lets hang on for a second, “Oh, by the way, We are also working on a project for iPhone”, Sakaguchi seems to be taking the iPhone project lightly or probably doesn’t see the iPhone apps as a big enough market.
On a more serious note, Sakaguchi is one of the most respected developers in the industry and even Microsoft tried to use him as bait in an attempt to lure Japanese gamers to the Xbox 360 by funding his studio to develop exclusive titles for the 360(Lost Odyssey & Blue Dragon). Just like he said we’ll find out soon what the RPG genius has to offer on the iPhone.
