Cyberpunk 2077 Will Offer A Smaller World To Explore When Compared To The Witcher 3

August 26, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

You can still expect a vast and dense city.

What may be on lists for most gamers going into 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has plenty of high expectations to live up to. However, if you were hoping that the development team over at CD Projekt Red was going to produce a game that rivaled the size of their previous main installment, The Witcher 3 then you may be a bit disappointed. While it was expected and even commented on before from the staff, it looks like CD Projekt Red is still hoping to lower some of the expectations when it comes to the map size of Cyberpunk 2077.

Recently Gamescom was going in full force and present during the event was CD Projekt Red’s producer, Richard Borzymowski, was taking on some interviews and it was when speaking to Gamesradar that Richard touched on the map size. When you think back to The Witcher 3, there was a ton of locations to visit but to get there players had some distance to travel. That leads you through a series of forests and small villages but when it comes to Night City, the location of Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll find that you’re not going to be traveling through vast open-world locations that take you out from the immediate city.

As a result, players will find that the city itself is going to be a bit smaller than the overall map of The Witcher 3, but you can still expect a ton of areas to explore and activities to take part in. Night City is incredibly dense and according to Richard, players can even think of the city as a protagonist for the game. While the game itself may not be releasing until April 16, 2020, we are slated for new gameplay footage unveiling at the end of this month.
