Destiny’s PlayStation 4 Cover Revealed

October 1, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Get hyped for Bungie’s upcoming shared-world shooter.

Check out the official PlayStation 4 cover of Bungie’s upcoming shared-world first-person shooter Destiny. As Bungie’s community manager DeeJ explains, the cover prominently displays the game’s three different Guardian classes: The Titan, the Hunter and the Warlock. All are sworn to protect Earth’s last City, their last stronghold. Class details follow below.

The Titans are descendants of the builders of the Wall, one of the City’s great defenses. As a player class, their specialty is in armor and heavy weaponry. Titans have a power move that creates shockwaves when they hit the ground called the Fist of Havoc. Titans are meant to be evocative of the future soldier stereotype from other media, including Storm Troopers, Space Marines, and no less than Master Chief.

The Hunters used to live out in the wilderness, and were apparently once outlaws. Their hoods and cloaks belie their boldness and ingenuity. They specialize in stealth, and combine speed and power to scout dangerous areas. When they use their Golden Gun ability, weapons get supercharged and hit enemies harder. As you may have guessed, these guys and girls are the Destiny universe’s bounty hunters.

Finally, the Warlocks have apparently studied the Traveler for ages, directly tapping it for their magical powers. While little has been revealed about the Traveler itself, we know that the Warlocks ably use magic in conjunction with more straightforward modern weapons. Some of their abilities are grenadelike attacks Solar Flare, a Nova Bomb, and Radiance, as well as Glide, which allows you to stay elevated after you jump. These guys are what Bungie describes as the space wizards, the Jedi Knights, Gandalf, and Morpheus.

Destiny is expected on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 sometime next year.
