Batman: Arkham Origins Will be Cheaper on Wii U

September 27, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The lack of multiplayer on the Wii U version of the game has reduced the price.

Batman: Arkham Origins, the upcoming prequel developed by Warner Brothers Montreal, won’t launch on the Wii U at the full $60 retail price. Instead, the dual-screen version of the game will arrive at a $10 discount, likely due to the exclusion of the Splash Damage-developed multiplayer.

This news comes from a publisher representative, who notified Kotaku about the discount earlier today. The Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of the game will be sold at full price, but at this time, it’s unclear why the Wii U never saw multiplayer support in the first place. We’ve seen footage for the competitive feature that showcases two gangs of players going up against each other to gain control over Blackgate territory, while Batman and Robin sneaked around the map and attempted to put a stop to both sides. It’s a big departure from the other two single player-focused games, and Nintendo fans will only be able to enjoy that from a distance.

It might not be developed by Rocksteady this time around, but you can expect a full-bodied Batman experience on all current-gen platforms Oct. 25. Make sure to enjoy it before the next-gen wave washes away all the old hardware.
