Nintendo has just revealed new Play Immediately Family Bundles for Wii U, as well as new color models for the 3DS, coming next month for Japan.
First off, the 3DS news is not that exciting, but a little interesting. They announced they were phasing out their Ice White and Piano Black colors for the console, but have now revealed these are getting replaced with new Clear Black and Pure White colors. The changes appear largely cosmetic, which isn’t entirely bad. It is also interesting that Nintendo still expects to sell more units of the original 3DS, with the 3DS XL also available, and the 2DS possibly coming to Japan in the near future.

The new Wii U bundles are for the 32 GB SKUs, which you can get in Japan in white or black. Bundle 1 gets you the console, New Super Mario Brothers U, Wii Party U, a sensor bar, a Wii Remote Plus, and 30 days of Wii Karaoke U for 32,800 yen. Bundle 2 gets you everything mentioned above, Wii Fit U and a Fit Meter for 34,800 yen.
Now, what makes these great deals is that the Wii U 32 GB SKU usually does not even come with the sensor bar, partly because most Japanese households are expected to already have one. Similarly, Bundle does not come with the Balance Board. Both bundles also include the Deluxe Program, giving them store credit for more digital purchases. Lastly, all games named above will be preinstalled in the console.
Would these new Wii U bundles do well outside Japan? It’s no stretch of the imagination to assume the 3DS models are coming stateside. These games may fill out the console’s 32 GB hard drive, but for families, these games may be most, if not all, they need.
