Grand Theft Auto 5 PS3 Code Hints at PC Release

September 23, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Grand Theft Auto 5 source code again references a PC version.

More evidence of a Grand Theft Auto 5 PC release continues to emerge as the PS3 version's source code mentions the PC in a variety of ways.

Reddit users sifted through the PS3 .XML for Grand Theft Auto 5 and discovered left over comments with mentions of the PC, DX11 and x64. For those unfamiliar with programming etiquette, programmers insert lines of comments that detail following sections or make note of any issues. The comments reference PC, x64 builds and even DirectX 11 – items not associated with the current consoles.

Last week players also scanned the Grand Theft Auto Xbox 360 code and found references to the PC and 'Orbis' as platforms. Sony used the codename Orbis for the PlayStation 4 before finalizing a name.

Rockstar remains quiet about next generation or PC releases of Grand Theft Auto 5, though source codes and Amazon listings suggest otherwise.
