Xbox One DVR Clips Not to be Shared on Facebook, YouTube Until 2014

September 23, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Players won’t be able to share footage on the big social sites until next year.

The Xbox One might be launching in 2014, but that doesn’t mean that it will ship to retailers feature complete. Issues with Kinect voice commands have delayed the box in eight European countries, giving Sony the edge when it comes to global outreach. Now, new information has emerged concerning how video clips created using the Xbox One's Game DVR can be shared at launch. Although most people will want to spread their greatest gaming moments across popular social outlets like Facebook and YouTube, the Xbox One will only support passing these scenes along via Xbox Live early in the race.

Senior director of product planning and management, Albert Penello, confirmed this news to Destructoid. Of course, all the biggest sites will eventually be a part of the Xbox One sharing ecosystem, but that type of functionality won’t be around until sometime in 2014. Players will be able to simply say, “Xbox Record” to begin capturing footage, but the last five minutes of gameplay will be automatically recorded, too.

It won'thave all the features players want early on, but the Xbox One will hit a handful of regions Nov. 22.
