More Microsoft Games Are Coming To Steam Including Gears 5

May 30, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Microsoft opens up the ability to enjoy titles on a variety of platforms.

Years ago it would have been unheard of for Xbox console video game exclusives to release on the PC platform. For instance, it was a means to get players to adopt Microsoft’s consoles in order to enjoy the exclusive video game titles but that has since changed. Microsoft announced a few years ago that they were allowing their exclusive titles to become available on the PC platform as well with games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection currently inbound. However, it looks like the gaming giant is hoping to further push support for the PC platform.

Earlier today we reported on Microsoft’s announcement of bringing the Xbox Game Pass to the PC platform. It was going to allow even more high-quality PC gamers for players to enjoy with the service but it was also revealed that Microsoft would be bringing out more support to the Steam launcher. More games are coming on Steam such as Gears 5. This was stated to allow more choice in where gamers can buy and enjoy Xbox Game Studio titles.

Later this year there will be apparently twenty more Xbox Game Studios titles on Steam and it starts with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Gears 5 and also Age of Empires Definitive Editions. There’s no list of what other titles are coming out for the launcher but at the very least it does look like Microsoft is starting to really open up the means of gathering a larger audience than keeping the titles completely exclusive to their storefront or console.

In March, we announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will come to PC later this year, launching on Steam in addition to the Microsoft Store on Windows. We will continue to add to the more than 20 Xbox Game Studios titles on Steam, starting with Gears 5 and all Age of Empires I, II & III: Definitive Editions. We know millions of PC gamers trust Steam as a great source to buy PC games and we’ve heard the feedback that PC gamers would like choice. We also know that there are other stores on PC, and we are working to enable more choice in which store you can find our Xbox Game Studios titles in the future.

With E3 around the corner and Microsoft hyping up a big show, perhaps the PC platform will have a nice highlighted section dedicated to what video game titles are coming out next on the Steam marketplace.
