Nintendo ‘Aware’ of Requests to Merge 3DS and Wii U Accounts

September 16, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Company refuses to commit to a solution however.

Nintendo of America's Dan Adelman has said the company is very much aware of requests from users to unify accounts for both Wii U and 3DS in an interview with Destructoid.

He says that Nintendo "heard that feedback many times from both inside and outside the company" but would not commit to offering a solution.

Commenting on the issue of merging accounts Adelman had this to say:

"It's definitely something that we're very much aware of. All development for the infrastructure really happens out of Japan, so we've kind of communicated this need in the market, and they're very much aware of it and working towards really just always improving the eShop."

According to Adelman 80 per cent of Wii U's are connected to the internet.

Sony has always offered a unified account for both PS3 and PSP/Vita, the same will also apply for PS4; hopefully Nintendo will be able to the same at some in the future for its home consoles and portable products. At present users must have separate accounts for tracking game progress, purhcasing content and so on for both Wii U and 3DS.

The Wii U has struggled since launch with one UK retailer no longer stocking the console in its stores.
