Developers claim that the memory and ALU (arithmetic logic unit) of the PlayStation 4 are considerably faster than that of its counterpart, the Xbox One.
The claims come from an article in Edge, which go on to state that the developers have painted the difference between both consoles as "significant" and "obvious."
Edge sources state that the PS4's memory reads between 40 to 50 percent faster than the Xbox One, and that the ALU is also 50 percent faster.
The example given states that a "platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but it’ll run at '20-something' FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One."
If true, the stats are pretty freaking crazy. It remains to be seen how well games will perform on the PS4 compared to the Xbox One in the real world. For that, we'll just have to wait until November.
