Fortnite: Battle Royale – How To Setup Two-Step Authentication & Get $10 Free On Epic Game Store

May 14, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Setup two-step authentication for your login on Fortnite: Battle Royale and earn $10 in credit on the Epic Game Store. Here’s everything you need to know.

Thanks to a (probably) mistaken leak from Epic Games themselves, it looks like the Epic Games Store is about to run an awesome giveaway — if you sign-up for TFA (Two-Factor Authentication) on Fortnite: Battle Royale, you’ll be able to instantly earn yourself $10 bucks in free credit. While this requires Fortnite: Battle Royale, you can use those credits on anything in the Epic Games Store. And, with Fortnite: Battle Royale being completely F2P and all, anyone can grab this offer.

There have been some security issues related to Fortnite — due to how insanely popular the game is, there are scams, account theft, and even money-laundering schemes all wrapped around the premier Battle Royale shooter. That’s probably why Epic Games, the developers, want you to opt-in to two-factor authentication and make your account that much more secure.

We’re getting ahead of these sneaky deal before the announcement is made official, so here’s what you need to do. Check out the guide below — you’ll need to access your account settings to get started.

How To Setup Two-Factor Authentication & Get $10 Free On Epic Game Store

TFA (Two-Factor Authentification) is an optional way to sign-in to your Epic Games account. If you activate TFA, you’ll be asked to input a second passcode that is generated after normal sign-in. There are various ways you can receive this code. Setting up TFA is very simple, and using it exponentially increases your account security.

  • How To Setup TFA

Go to your Epic Games account settings.

Go to the PASSWORDS & SECURITY tab.

Scroll down to TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

Click ENABLE AUTHENTICATOR APP or ENABLE E-MAIL AUTHENTICATOR

Depending on your selection, you’ll either have to input an e-mail address, or download an authenticator app on your smart phone. After signing in, Epic Games will send you a passcode that you will have to input every single time you login.

There are several common authenticator apps you can use to receive authenticator codes — Google Authenticator, LastPass, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy. These apps can be found for free on the app store of your chosen device.

For signing up, you’ll also get the Boogiedown Emote in Fornite: Battle Royale, pictured above! Whatever accounts signs up will automatically (supposedly) earn the $10 credit.
