Terraria 1.2 Update Coming Rockets Ablazing This October

Gigantic update breathes new life into the indie action adventure.

The news you have all been waiting for… The update will be out on October 1st!

After 20 months of silence, Redigit has revealed that Terraria is receiving update 1.2, offering a wealth of fixes and new content, and is now dated for release October 1.

Terraria is a unique action adventure game using exploration games like Metroid and Minecraft as its base. The player character can level up, explore different parts of the game world, fight increasingly more powerful enemies, and deals with day and night cycles. On top of that, you can build housing structures and, by meeting certain goals, attract NPCs and get them to reside in these houses. You can also collect resources to craft into weapons and tools.

Among the major updates promised in 1.2 are a minimap, half blocks shown in action, the ability to paint blocks with a paint brush, differently colored water, and of course, more weapons, tools and building materials. Among these items are a rocket launcher, a confetti gun, a grappling hook, the abovementioned paint brush, a paint roller, and rainbow blocks. Some bugs are also being addressed in the update, including fixing wiring lag, a trash-dupe bug, the removal of double damage from PVP, and more flamelash.

While Redigit’s 2 minute preview from May generously shares many of these features, the 1.2 update will receive an official trailer, to arrive either September 16 or 17.

If you haven’t checked out Terraria yet, you should know that it’s out on Windows, Steam, iOS, Android, PSN, XBLA and Vita, so you have many ways to try it out. While we’re waiting, you can check out Redigit’s preview below, or check out a list of anticipated changes here.
