Gran Turismo 7 Coming to PS4 ‘in a Year or Two’

September 12, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Gran Turismo 6 is currently 80 per cent complete.

Gran Turismo 6 is set to be released on PS3 on December 6th, almost a month after the release of the PS4, but Polyphony Digital producer Kazunori Yamauchi has told Famitsu that its sequel, Gran Turismo 7, will come to PS4 in a year or two.

In the interview, spotted by VG24/7, Yamauchi comments:

"The PlayStation 4 game which we'll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect's going to be vital there as well."

Asked how complete Gran Turismo 6 currently is Yamauchi responded:

"It's really hard to give an accurate answer to that,. The basic components are already complete, so overall I'd have to say about 80 percent.

"The physics engine, the steering controls; those parts of the user interface are things that we fine tune-right up to the very end. Things like the game modes; I can say that those are complete."

Gran Turismo 5 saw a last minute delay of three weeks so hopefully the same fate doesn't befall Gran Turismo 6 or 7 for that matter.  Despite Gran Turismo 6's absence from the PlayStation 4's launch lineup next-gen gamers will be able to pick up Evolution Studios' DriveClub.

Yamauchi previously said that "we have a PS4 version in mind" but it seems that version has evolved into Gran Turismo 7.
