Dragon Age: Inquisition Save Import Discussed by BioWare

August 30, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Your choices continue to matter in the Dragon Age universe.

The latest fantasy role-playing game from BioWare, Dragon Age: Inquisition, will attempt to reboot a franchise that saw a significant stumble in its more linear, content sparse sequel. Even if not everyone who played it loved what Dragon Age 2 had to offer, the team behind the latest attempt at glory wants fans to feel like what they’ve done in the past will matter this time around. A method for creating save files, simply known as the Dragon Age Keep, has just been detailed by the developers as a method to bring a customized world state to the next-generation RPG.

What does that mean, exactly? As of this time, according to the BioWare Blog, there’s no way to import save games from the first two titles in the series. This will be a new line of hardware, and while the team is still searching for a solution, the Dragon Age Keep is an alternative that allows players to shape the world of Thedas to their liking and attempt to replicate the choices made previously. How you picked your companions, the method by which you might have risen to power, and the romances created throughout the dozens of hours spent in the series will all move over to the third game and affect what takes place there.

How it all comes together is yet to be seen, but it’s a good solution to a problem that’s difficult to get around. Look to hear more about the Keep before Inquisition launches in the fall of 2014.
