A Microsoft Store page has revealed some of the first story details for Halo on Xbox One which was announced at E3.
The listing, discovered by All Games Beta, pins the game's release date as Decemeber 31st 2014 which is most definitely a placeholder. Most previous console based Halo titles have launched in either September or November.
Halo's listing reads:
"Halo for Xbox One takes the now-legendary saga to new heights and is one of the most anticipated games for the new console. In possession of a mysterious data chip, Petty Officer John-117, aka Master Chief, confronts a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted. Pre-order the next chapter in the wildly popular Halo series designed exclusively for Xbox One."
The game will be the second installment in the Reclaimer Saga which was originally intended to span Halo 4-6 but has since been expanded to allow for more entries in the series.
When the game was announced, 343 Industries' general manager Bonnie Ross promised that "for the first time on console, a Halo experience that runs at a blistering 60 frames per second".
Halo on Xbox One has been described by Microsoft as a "legitimate" installment in the series. The company is also considering producing Halo 2: Anniversary.
