DayZ Standalone Gets Demoed: Derelict Ships, Interaction, and More

August 27, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The standalone edition of DayZ gets demoed by Dean ‘Rocket’ Hall, who shows off some of the game’s new features and locations.

Dean "Rocket" Hall, the creator of DayZ has gotten together with German magazine GameStar to release an in-depth new look at the upcoming DayZ standalone version.

Hall is quick to state that the game is currently in pre-alpha, with no timeframe for when the game is set to enter alpha, or even beta version.

In the video, Hall showcases what appears to be a derelict oil tanker, created specifically for the DayZ standalone. Hall states that the oil tanker is a base that players will want to fight over for control as it contains resources, and serves as a safe spot from the zombies.

The oil tanker is just one of many things that Hall and his team have planned for the game. Other bases include prisons and police stations. Unlike the mod version of DayZ, 95% of the buildings will be enterable in standalone DayZ.
