Titanfall Won’t Support Cross-Platform Play

August 23, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Each console will have its own set of online servers and players.

Titanfall will launch on Xbox One, PC, and Xbox 360 Spring 2014, but don’t expect everyone who buys the game will be able to play each other online. The three unique versions won’t support any sort of connected networks, as each console will hold “separated groups” of soldiers.

This comes from Videogamer, who recently spoke to Respawn Entertainment’s Abbie Heppe. She confirmed that Xbox One players will not be able to join either PC or Xbox 360 players online, but there will be dedicated servers on each platform.

"We will be able to offer dedicated servers on Xbox 360," Heppe said. "Obviously… Xbox 360 players are not going to be playing with Xbox One players, they're not going to be playing with PC; those will be separated groups."

The Xbox 360 version won’t be developed by Respawn, and while the group of bright minds putting it together have a name, Heppe isn’t yet prepared to let the world know who they are.

"We haven't said [who is developing the 360 port yet] and I don't think I can say right now because I would be worried that now they're going to get inundated and I haven't prepared them. I should probably talk to them first! But we're working really closely with them,” she said. "Obviously we want the Xbox 360 version to be as good as it can be so our producer works with them constantly and is making sure that it definitely has our oversight."

Titanfall was the biggest game coming out of E3, so there will be plenty of eyes watching the online shooter moving forward.
