NBA 2K14 Dribbling and Shooting Revamped through The Pro Stick

August 20, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

NBA 2K14 will make great use of the right stick for the moment-to-moment gameplay.

NBA 2K14 isn’t all about the teams, players, and soundtrack surrounding the sport. The personalities playing the game make it both dramatic and interesting on a human level, but when you get down to the nitty-gritty, fans just want to play basketball. The 2K Games team has been working on much more than just the moving pieces and parts surrounding the core gameplay, and thanks to the help of some of the biggest community members, the core tweaks and additions to the action has been both detailed and critiqued.

A resigned dribble system has been implemented, according to user IpodKingCarter. Players can now flick the right stick in any direction to keep the ball bouncing thanks to the Pro Stick feature, while holding the stick toward the rim will initiate a shot. If you prefer breaking into the paint with a few spin moves, it’s as simple as rotating the stick in your direction of choice. It’s a more fluid system, and one that hopes to remove canned animations.

Players can hesitate. Players can do full spins around even the craftiest of defensive players. With the addition of this new system, a slew of fresh maneuvers and animations have been added to create both a more authentic basketball experience, as well as a more enjoyable game. This is a game of momentum, and thanks to the right stick, a game of quick taps. Players can look forward to hearing more about the revamped sports title soon, as well as anticipate the release on both current and next-generation hardware this fall.
