New Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag screenshots in present day Abstergo

August 2, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

New Ubi blog post connects Aveline missions to Abstergo Entertainment.

Analog Addiction shared some new screenshots today of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, bringing us inside Abstergo Industries. As best as I can tell, all four are actually from Abstergo Entertainment, a multimedia company specializing in video game products. In a fourth-wall breaking contrivance, Abstergo has repurposed its Animus technology and sells it as a video game console, as well as a head mounted display. In both these forms, consumers get to experience memories of people long dead, as well as record their own experiences. However, Abstergo has also been secretly using the technology to influence users.

The pictures show exteriors of Abstergo Entertainment's building, the frontdesk, the offices where they seem to have several mockups of Assassins, and what is presumably a picture of the penthouse with the yet unnamed head of the company.

In a post on their official blog, Ubisoft provided details on the upcoming Aveline content, and her connection to Abstergo Entertainment.  Basically, Abstergo Entertainment has been looking for new stories to repackage and sell to consumers. You have, of course, infiltrated the company, and will be able to access Aveline's memories through Animus in this way.

Aveline's missions will pick up a few years where Assassin's Creed III: Liberation left off, and Liberation writer Jill Murray has been retained to write this content. However, with the time jump, her part in Black Flag won't actually connect very much from the story of Liberation. Black Flag head writer Darby McDevitt likens it to a short story.

If you missed out on the Vita game, you can get a taste of what it's like to play her on your PS3 or future PS4. More picture below.
