The UK's second largest supermarket and key game retailer Asda is no longer stocking Wii U systems or games including the recently released Pikmin 3 which launched at number two in the country's charts.
CVG first reported the absence of Nintendo's console from the store but notes that eight games from the system's November 2012 launch window remain available on Asda's website.
A spokesperson commented "Asda continues to offer customers a selection of Wii U games and accessories through Asda Direct, but these ranges are currently not on offer in Asda shops."
The supermarket later added "Asda will stock [Wii U] games on a title by title basis as they come along through Asda Direct. We will continue to support Nintendo as a format holder partner."
Notably, no commitment has been made to stock Wii U games in Asda stores.
The retailer did not specify a reason for the decision to cease stocking Wii U titles and consoles in stores. Asda continues to sell PS3, PS Vita and Xbox 360. The chain is also currently taking pre-orders for the PS4 and Xbox One.
Asda does not sell Nintendo 3DS systems or games.
In a statement to CVG Nintendo said "Nintendo UK does not comment on specific business practices with individual retailers."
Asda, which is owned by US group Walmart, has previously slashed the price of the Wii U from £250 to £200 and then from £200 to £150.
The Wii U has struggled to gain market share and many of its biggest titles, such as ZombiU, have not been profitable.
