Battlefield 4 Could Allow Cross-Gen Multiplayer Saves

July 26, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

EA and DICE are looking into this style of progression.

Thanks to the launch of next-generation console, Battlefield 4 will pretty much be playable on every system under the sun. Not only will the massive install base of the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 be able to close out the generation with one of the biggest shooters in the past few years, but owners of the fresh hardware will also be able to test out just what their fancy new toys can do through DICE’s blockbuster. News recently came out that players won’t be able to swap stats and saved data between current and next-gen machines, but after a bit of fan outcry, it looks as if that might not actually be the case.

This news comes from the official Battlefield Twitter account, which claims that the team is “investigating” if what fans want will even be possible on the new machines.

“We've heard reports that players would like their stats and progression to transfer from current to next-gen in #BF4,” the Tweet reads. “We're investigating.”

Battlefield 4 has plenty of customization options, and really, the team behind it has always been keen to ask its community want it wants from particular features. Apparently, people were loud enough to at least make DICE and EA look at their possibilities with bringing all the online statistics over, and while nothing can be confirmed at this point, things at least look brighter for those of you who plan on picking up multiple copies of what’s sure to be one of the biggest 2013 shooters.
