Nintendo is pushing some marketing muscle behind Wonderful 101 with the launch of official sites for US and Japan. While Japan got the more fully featured site, US got theirs first, and revealed the first inklings of the game's multiplayer, to boot.
So the US site is actually still a work in progress, with the promise of the full site coming soon. The site's text reveals that game missions would involve exploring different cities, gathering and recruiting citizens, and using special abilities like Unite Morphs to create weapons and build bridges and objects (the game refers to this as Unite Build).
Wonderful 101 will have an in-game shop, so you can collect O-Parts and bring them back there to let you upgrade your skills and items. Finally. the site reveals that the game will have five person cooperative multiplayer.
Moving over to the Japanese site and NeoGAF, details on the spy/hero/alien invasion story have come out. The aliens are called Geathjerks, and they first started attacking Earth 40 years before the game setting. The UN sets up a Centinel program, placing Heroes in 100 Centinel field branches located around the world. The site itself shows a white ninja hero, a yellow ushanka wearing, hammer wielding hero (presumably Russian), and a young all-black hero who looks like he's playing an old compact style Game and Watch.
The Unite Morphs are more than weapons. The Sword Morph doubles as a lockpick, The Hand Morph opens doors, and of course the Bridge Morph lets you cross gaps.
Finally, the Japanese site reveals multiplayer is local only, which should be no surprise at this point. Platinum's last try at online multiplayer, Anarchy Reigns, didn't really do very well, so this may be more about Platinum playing to the Wii U and their own strengths more than anyting else.
