Assassin’s Creed 4 Screenshots Depict Naval Action, Harpooning, Story Elements

July 22, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

New story elements have been unveiled in Assassin’s Creed 4.

Ubisoft has released a host of new screenshots showcasing activities that you'll be able to partake in the upcoming Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. The screenshots depict activities such as harpooning shark, deep sea diving (while avoiding said shark), sighting forts, swashbuckling, and plundering the dead.

Interestingly enough, one of the screenshots depicts Connor Kenway holding a mysterious glowing blue cube, that's no doubt related to the precursor race in Assassin's Creed's overarching story. According to the name of the screenshot, Connor can be seen talking to a character named Vane about the cube.

Among the pictures shared in the image dump is one which lists out the armaments of the Jackdaw, Connor's trusty vessel. It's armed with 16-50 cannons, Rammer, Fire Barrels, Naval Mortar, Chain Shot, and Heavy Shot—and it's a badass compared to the other ships in the game, including naval frigates. The only ship that manages to outclass the Jackdaw is the Man of War.

Assassin’s Creed 4 is slated for a PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release later this year, followed by an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release.
