Sony Eases Video Unlimited DRM Policies for PlayStation

July 16, 2013 by Stephen Daly

You can now download content across multiple devices.

Sony has relaxed its rules regarding the use of Video Unlimited services on PlayStation platforms with support being added for a cloud-based library of content and re-downloads across multiple devices.

Greg Belloni, senior manager of corporate communications at Sony Network Entertainment, affirmed the change to ShackNews.

"I can confirm that we did recently change the service to allow users to re-download video content," he said.

Prior to the update of Sony's policies, users could only download content purchased from the Video Unlimited service once.

The updated Video Unlimited website notes "Movie rentals are available for viewing up to 30 days after purchase and can be views multiple times with 24 on the same device.

"If you purchase a copy, the video or TV show download will be available infinitely and can be transferred to other enabled devices."

The move brings Video Unlimited in line with services from iTunes and Amazon. Exclusive content from Sony Pictures is also planeed for the service in future.
