Sony Adds Mobile PlayStation Wallet Top Ups for UK Users

July 3, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Funds will be charged to your mobile bill or taken from pay-as-you-go accounts.

Sony and Boku have announced a collaboration which will allow Sony Entertainment Network wallets to be topped up by users from mobile accounts in the UK.

According to Sony all major UK mobile providers have signed up to the program and top ups can be used to purchase SEN content including PlayStation products.

Sony UK vice president Gordon Thornton commented, "We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular."

The move was made possible with the collaboration of mobile payments firm Boku and "all major UK mobile network operators" have signed up.

Payments can be applied to all PlayStation Store and Sony Entertainment Network products and to activate this process users will need to head to their SEN Account Management page and choose mobile as a payment option. Any top ups made in this manner will be included in the next phone bill. Alternatively, pay-as-you-go customers will see the funds automatically removed.

So far, no plans have been announced to expand the service to other regions.
