Naughty Dog releases The Last Of Us patch 1.02

July 1, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

removes inadvertent real life hotline, fixes multiplayer

Naughty Dog has just released patch 1.02 to sellout game The Last Of Us. It most notably removed a real life hotline to a phone sex service, but also deals several fixes to the game's multiplayer.

  • Host migration has been fixed so that there will be less lost connections.
  • Leaving multiplayer will no longer crash the game.
  • The camera for some introductory cut scenes has been fixed.
  • Connectivity while playing has been improved
  • Losing connection to the host or getting disconnected will no longer lead to you advancing a clan day. This will only happen moving forward if you yourself exit the game, or if you are kicked out from the match.
  • You should be able to choose Explosion Expert Level 2.
  • Match selection voting time is now only 15 seconds long.
  • You can now choose a "No party" playlist for Supply Raid and Survivors. Under this playlist, each player can only join in as a solo player.

The team promises further fixes in the coming months and encourages fans to leave feedback in their forums.

As developer Neil Druckman has explained, the entry of the phone sex hotlines were a honest mistake. They made up numbers on the fly and assumed none of the numbers would come up in real life without checking.

The Last of Us is enjoying good sales in Europe, however, Europeans are complaining of censorship. This German site in particular details issues with altered depictions of dismemberment and less blood. Interestingly, the German Playstation team gave carefully worded statements to make it sound like the game was not censored at all. However, these alterations were only made in the game's multiplayer mode

We detailed some of the game's glitches last month.
