EA’s $400 Million Dollar Problem Continues

March 17, 2011

Activision’s attempt to embroil EA in their lawsuit against former Infinity Ward heads is successful.

Activision had Electronic Arts added to its $400 million contract-breach lawsuit after former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella joined forces with the latter publisher.

EA attempted to extricate themselves from the lawsuit, but their motion was denied Northern California Superior Court Judge Elihu Berle dismissed all but one of EA's objections. The judge cited EA's alleged pursuit of confidential information from West and Zampella as cause for not granting the publisher's motion to dismiss. Their lawyer had argued that Activision had not produced any evidence of the alleged pursuit, but his arguments fell on deaf ears.

EA spokesperson Jeff Brown described to GameSpot today that Activision's attempt to drag others into their suit against Zampella and West as "subterfuge," and described the case as two artists simply trying to get paid for their work.

Further details of the ongoing lawsuit can be found at GameSpot.
