Microsoft’s Spencer Would Like to See State of Decay on Xbox One, Says ‘I’m In’

June 21, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Zombie survival title could come to next-gen.

Microsoft Game Studios' president Phil Spencer has voiced his enthusiasm for bringing State of Decay to Xbox One saying "I'm in" on Twitter.

State of Decay has sold extremely well on Xbox 360 with becoming the fastest selling "original" title on Xbox Live Arcade shifting 500,000 copies in its first week. Sales of the game were such that they matched the entire UK retail games business over one week in just two days.

One Xbox owner commented that the zombie survival game would make an excellent addition to the Xbox One's roster to which Spencer replied:

@AcidBuzz @toxiichollow I like the idea. Those that have followed this studio know they have bigger plans for the franchise. I'm in.

— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) June 20, 2013

While this doesn't necessarily mean that the game will make it to Microsoft's next console the fact that Spencer supports the idea coupled with the title's high sales means there's a decent possibility that it will.

Minecraft, the only game to have performed better on XBLA, has been confirmed for Xbox One and Spencer has said Microsoft are "discussing" the possibility of transferring saves from the Xbox 360.

Developer Undead Labs has announced that they're working on a sandbox mode for State of Decay and are developing a Steam version of the title.
