Microsoft: Xbox One Will Win in the Long Run

June 17, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Microsoft is still very confident in the Xbox One winning the next console cycle.

The Xbox One, in the eyes of a large portion of the gaming community, is behind. Sony came out swinging during E3, and while we’re still months away from the launch of the next-gen consoles, the momentum has swung heavily in the favor of the PlayStation 4 after the Los Angeles show. However, Microsoft still feels that its next-generation offerings were not only better than Sony’s, but that the Xbox One will come out on top in the long run.

This comes from Senior Vice President at Microsoft Yusuf Mehdi, who recently spoke to Spanish outlet Tecnologia. Even with a higher price point and greater hardware-based restrictions, Mehdi knows there’s more value to the Xbox One. The following text was translated by a NeoGaf member from the interview.

“We unveiled 20 titles for Xbox One, of which 17 are exclusive to this console. I do not think Sony can say the same,” Mehdi said. “What I hear is that before launching, we are better positioned with a complete value proposition, the installed Skype voice service, and Kinect motion sensor included. There’s no point in winning a show, because the test will be the consumer. In the long run, our console will win.”

Some people have gone as far as calling Microsoft’s E3 presentation “disastrous,” but Mehdi seems to think that the show won’t have any sort of negative impact on the console’s sales. None of this will be known, though, until both the Xbox One and PS4 launch this holiday season.
