BioWare’s Anthem Will Require Always Online Connection

June 12, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Anthem will not work offline.

When Microsoft really started to unveil the Xbox One, players were upset at the thought of an always online connection. The console would essentially be useless as it couldn’t play a video game unless the unit could connect online resulting in a number of issues gamers would have to endure just to enjoy the system. That soon caused Microsoft to backtrack before they officially released the console to consumers.

Now it seems that this feature is coming slowly to select video game titles such as BioWare’s Anthem. Overall, the game was marketed to be enjoyed online with friends, but there is the option to enjoy the game by yourself. However, it doesn’t appear that will be the case if you can’t connect to the internet.

Gamespot recently confirmed through developer Mark Darrah that Anthem will require an always-on online connection. Gamers can still enjoy the game by themselves but the game will still require the use of an internet connection. Likewise, if you were hoping for some PvP elements then you’ll be saddened to hear that during the launch of the game, players will not have any PvP game modes but it is something that BioWare will be working on in a future update.

Currently, Anthem is slated to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC Platforms in February of 2019. Are you alright with the always online connection requirement for Anthem? Let us know by leaving a comment down below.
