It’s not exactly smart to get your hopes all high up in the sky from a single rumor. Just last week, Mirror’s Edge 2 was listed on the German version of Amazon as both an Xbox One and Xbox 360 product. The world cheered (at least the good part of the world), but it was difficult to consider this as an actual confirmation of things to come. However, the evidence supporting the existence of this first-person action title continues to pour in – even if the original listing has been taken down.
Now, a new page for Mirror’s Edge 2 has been discovered on the Italian branch of Amazon, which just seems like a bizarre coincidence in a span of a week. Sure, the box art is a placeholder and the release date is Jan. 1, 2020, but users can sign up for more information on the yet-to-be-announced project as it comes. Pre-orders are not being taken at this time.
It’s also important to note that this is just an Xbox One game. While the last listing had both the Xbox 360 and next-gen platform as viable options, the Italian site has it as an Xbox One exclusive. We heard at the unveiling for the new system that there will be 15 exclusives released in the console’s first year of existence, and while the first Mirror’s Edge made its way to the PlayStation 3, it’s possible that Microsoft has made a deal with EA on the sequel. We won’t let our hope float away like a stray balloon, but things are looking more and more encouraging.
