Insomniac CEO: We’re Just Getting Started with Fuse

May 28, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Fuse will continue in forms other than DLC.

Fuse is Insomniac Games’ first multiplatform game to ever be released. That’s pretty impressive with the dwindling number of non-first-party developers crafting exclusive games, but the talented studio has had a long and storied career on Sony’s PlayStation platform. Its partnership with EA is a new chapter in the company’s story, and according to Insomniac president and CEO Ted Price, we’ve only seen the beginning.

Price decided to speak directly to fans over the official Insomniac website now that Fuse is available on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Sure, the critical reception hasn’t exactly been strong, but this is a new property that the developer hopes will have a bright future.

“For you, our fans… for those of you who dig what we do with crazy worlds, characters and weapons… for those of you who check out Fuse and enjoy a co-op romp through a very ‘Insomniac’ game, this is what I have to say: we’re just getting started,” Price wrote.

It’s unknown whether or not EA has signed on for a possible “Fuse 2,” but Insomniac has big plans for its next step.

“We’ve already begun expanding what we’ve begun with Fuse. Right now as I write this we’re taking the core concepts behind Fuse and prototyping new stuff… stuff that leverages this bizarre alien substance which is at the heart of the game,” he continued. “No, I’m not talking about DLC. I’m talking about new Fuse experiences altogether.”

With a new generation of consoles launching later this year, it’s possible that this “experience” is something to be seen on the PS4 and Xbox One.
