Ghost of a Tale Hits Indiegogo Target Just in Time

May 22, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

Backers have contributed €3.700 over the goal.

On Monday, the extended Indiegogo campaign for Ghost of a Tale ended with a total of €48.700 raised, €3.700 over its original €45.000 goal. The campaign reached its goal at the weekend, so that extra cash is all last-minute contributions from supporters of the project.

Seith, the (currently) sole developer on the game, shared the news yesterday, and also revealed that he has well over a thousand emails to go through but that when he's done that he'll get to work on perk fulfilment. Those who contributed at least €10 will receive a “special extended version MP3 of the alpha trailer's music by Jeremiah Pena”, and while a lot of the other perks are in the form of in-game content (or actual copies of the game) some of the more generous backers will also receive things like colour postcards that feature art from the game, tee shirts, and figurines of the Undead Rats that harass the mouse protagonist.

After he's sorted all that out, of course, Seith will go back to working on the game. While what we've seen so far looks pretty polished, the money from this campaign will let him hire others to help him properly finish the game and update the old hardware and software he's been using to for development so far. If all goes well, the game will be available just over a year from now, though Seith says that it could have to wait until the end of 2014 to launch. The closed beta, however, should be available by the end of this year.
