Starting Friday May 17th, Steam will offer Counter Strike: Global Offensive as a free trial download until Sunday 1pm Pacific Daylight Time/ 3pm Eastern.
If you can't get enough of escorting the hostages to the safe zones in Office or need to pick off the enemy team with your AWP sniper, you can also purchase Global Offensive at a discount. Until Monday, May 20th at 10am PDT/ 1pm Eastern, you can purchase Counter Strike: Global Offensive for $7.50 – a 50% dsicount off the regular price.
This weekend sale and free trial period comes just after the release of the Operation Payback update. The update rewards popular community mapmakers for their hard work developing maps. To support the mapmakers, players can buy unlimited access pass to the Classic Casual map group that features highly voted maps. To not exclude any friends you may play with, you can invite them to your Classic Casual game sessions without the need for their donations.
According to Valve, Operation Payback only marks the start for future Operations offering rewards to the community and its mapmakers.
