David Jaffe Working on Kickstarter Project Autoduel

May 16, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Jaffe will be joining the team for creative support.

Apparently, developers truly believe that now is the time to revive car-combat games. The developers at Eat Sleep Play made an honest effort last year of bringing Twisted Metal back to life, and now, outspoken-developer David Jaffe will be taking a whole new swing at things through the Kickstarter project Autoduel.

As you may know, Jaffe had a big part in crafting both the God of War and Twisted Metal franchises years ago. He went independent after releasing his vehicular reboot last year, and since then, has been mostly quiet (unless you follow him on Twitter). However, a recent press release has made it known that he’ll be working with indie developer Pixelbionic to bring its Kickstarter-funded title, vehicular combat game Autodue, to life. It sounds like a perfect fit for the veteran of the industry, but don’t think that this means that Jaffe will be tied down to this group. Instead of permanently joining the team, he will simply act as another creative voice.

“To be clear: I'm super excited to contribute to Autoduel, but I don't work for PixelBionic; just on the creative board for this great game!” Jaffe confirmed over Twitter.

We’ve heard quite a few bold statements from Jaffe in the past. The man lashed out against one reviewer after receiving a low score for his most-recent game, and claims that the upcoming generation will be the last one. You don’t have to listen to everything he says, but Jaffe is still a talented member of the industry that will likely make Autoduel a better game.
