Call of Duty Elite Members Being Asked to ‘Shape the Future’ of the Series

May 16, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Would you like to help design the next Call of Duty? Here’s your chance.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is coming. We’ve seen the slightly cheesy teaser trailer, and we know that it will be making its gameplay debut next week when the next-generation Xbox is revealed to the public. However, the bright minds behind the franchise are always looking to improve what’s become the highest grossing entertainment release each and every year. Instead of changing the formula in some sort of bubble, separate from the fans, the developers are asking the franchise’s biggest believers to help “shape the future” of Call of Duty.

What does that really mean? That might just be the biggest question. Certain members of the Call of Duty Elite program, which allows players to track their military progression to much greater levels, are being asked to attend a Los Angeles focus group for the purpose of improving the franchise. People have to pay actual money to be a part of the Elite system, so it’s likely that Activision and Infinity Ward know that there will be the players most dedicated to what the next game will look like. Users on Reddit were first to discover the above invite.

Those interested will have to fill out a preliminary survey in order to attend, and as of this time, there’s no word on when the date of this event is. Since Ghosts must be deep in development if it plans to make it to both current and next-generation platforms by the fall, the feedback gathered at this event really will be for the “future” of the franchise. Whatever that may look like.
